Description
This offering is for a lot of 8 clay pipes with reed stems plus about 10 extra stems of various lengths. Most appear to have never been used but one or two do show some light signs of having been smoked...either that or it's just a tad dirty.Several are commonly referred to as "Pamplin" clay pipes which were made east of Appomattox, Va. up until about 1930 (??). They were patterned after pipes made by the Powhattan Indians near Richmond, VA in a much earlier time. Clay from that area was said to be very well suited to making pipes and there was an ample supply of wetlands near to get the reed stems. These are probably from the period 1900 to 1930.
